What you know bout that life?!

I'm not the hugest Beyounce fan. I have never claimed to be. I know those fans that would cut a person if they ever "came out of pocket" bout her! But I have to share some of my favorite songs of hers that just speak to the heart. The first is EGO. Now this song right chere is all about what it the title saids, EGO!

A man who does his thang! He has that swag, that demeanor, that sex appeal, that will stop you in your tracks and make you take notice!

I know a few men like that, and I'm blessed to say I dated a few in my past. Because there is nothing sexier then a man in a suit with his confidence holding at 110%. Trust me on that one!

But once you got that man you got to show him you can give it back! Beyounce's DANCE FOR YOU is a clear example of showing him while you are what you are, let me  show you how happy I am to be with you! The sensuality and the appeal of this song makes you want to sit your man down and show 'em what cha workin wit!

An Angel returns home, Farewell Talia.......

If you are a beauty lover like myself, you tend to watch many different YouTubers. One in particular I've watched is Taliajoy18. I personally didn't know here but have been told by those who did how sweet and kind she was.

It saddens me to know she left this realm so quickly to return to heaven, but she's no longer suffering from the cancer she had. I send my prayers to her family that they maybe comforted in their time of loss. She maybe gone but she will never be forgotten!

Here's one of her latest vlogs. There are soooo many to choose from but I enjoy this one because it shows here personality and her fun nature.

Blog/Website help

I'm a fairly new blogger for those who aren't familiar with me. I blog on here and on Wordpress. I started on here because I wanted to utilize affiliate programs that I've been able to obtain and make some extra money while looking for a full time job. Since I'm just beginning on this site I have not been able to obtain Adsense. So I've decided to create my own domain and site to host my banners and ads.

However, the problem is I'm not too sure where to start. I am not the most web savvy person but I know what I want and how I want things to look. I want to create two separate sites one for my Makeup Artistry and then one to host my blog. I would love for them to be inter linked which would make them simple to use and navigate.

I will not be able to pay very much for the help and assistance, but would be more then happy to advertise to your assistance on all my social sites to gain you publicity.

You can contact me through here or email me @ Beauty.marqd@gmail.com.

Thank you in advance!!

Published Work!!!

Recently I've been able to work with a photographer by the name of Derek Palmer of Derek Palmer Photography to expand my portfolio. A few months back he did a photo shoot and asked me to do makeup for the model. I was my first professional experience all around but it gained me a foot hole to start my journey. Subsequently, he used one of the photos in his magazine Simply Elevate. So not only was I on my way in Makeup Artistry, I was now with printed work!

Derek was so impressed with my talents he asked me to consider writing articles for Simply Elevate. Writing about beauty topics, how to's, latest trends, and so on. I personally thought he was joking, but come to find out he wasn't. I submitted to him an article that was about the latest trend of Lipsticks. He published the article!!! I am super excited to share with you my work. Take a look and tell me what you think!

Mini MAC Haul.. Small Treat for me.

ImageSo I decided to treat myself to a Mini Haul at the MAC counter. I actually wanted to get quite a few of clearance items from Sephora. I saw online that Sephora was having a pretty nice clearance sale of their makeup brushes. So of course I bee lined straight to my local Sephora counter to add some new brushes to my kit. You can never have too many clean blending brushes, or too many brushes at all for that matter. Of course, the counter doesn't have any brushes on sale right now. They are only online. Isn't that always the case!!! Not everybody wants to wait and pay for shipping!!! Especially when you have a perfectly good store in the same city where you live. But I digress.
So upon looking around at the Sephora counter I noticed that they had absolutely nothing worth spending money on. I looked for quite sometime. I talked to the counter reps and looked at almost everything, except the nail polish. But either way, there was no sale going, no new items in, no nothing. So Sad. I was really looking forward to buying, lol. Just the treat of purchasing something new. After searching high and low for a good bargain I decided to go to MAC. If all else fails, MAC is the place to go.
So, I decided to play around. Let them make me up for a chance. I was going to let the artist do her best. No restrictions. She didn't even blink before she told me, "Well this isn't Ambush Make Over. I need  to know what you want to do or look like." If I asked that then I would have said that. Ugh, RUDE!!

But I looked around and even looked through their "look book" (which needs to be updated) and couldn't find anything that I wanted to look like. So I waited around looking at the available options. Now mind you, if you've ever been to a MAC counter they have the same products they've had for the last several years. However, they have a new product launch just about every month to every three months. So they product line stays fresh and new.

For MUAs it gives use more to work with, but for us MUAs on a budget, they never have a sale or discount unless you have a PRO discount card (which you can't use in at the counter).
Going back to my experience, I decided to do a Bold Lip and High Lighting with Contouring. Always looking to re-up my knowledge on looks. So we sat and talked and she told me that the Dewey look was back in for Spring and this year the Bold Lip was in as well. Well this would be totally different then what I'm used to considering I have a oily skin type so I tend to go for a matte finish. You can always add a shine back into the skin if you want the sort of thing. Well here's the look not 5 minutes from making my purchase and going to the car:
ImageImageImageImage
Now to me, I feel like it's just an Oily Look. Now it was raining, and the over cast didn't provide alot of sun light so my flash bounced light over my skin. She did do a full face look, meaning moisturizer, foundation, setting powder, high lighter, blush, and brow pencil. Along with eye shadow and mascara. I'll list everything below. On my lips are the colors you see in the previous picture.
I can appreciate the look because of the idea behind it. But that's about All I can say on it. I love the look of the lips. The dimension and the colors:

I normally would wear a nude or just a gloss. But This Is Gaw-geous!!! My boldness is coming in full on this Spring/Summer! I plan to go to Target and get many more new shades and brands to see if there are not only dupes for the MAC line, which I know there are (see next post), but to get more items to add to my kit. Keep an eye out for more hauls to come!
Items used:
Oil Control Lotion
Prep & Prime SPF
Mineralize SPF NC 45

Paint Pod Eclair

Long Time no haul.... Until Now!

Being a Makeup Artist on a budget comes with its own separate set of obstacles. Finding quality products at a modest price point can be a struggle. I'm always on the hunt to find a great deal on some makeup product to enhance my kit and to use for my personal use. Over the last couple of weeks I've been blessed to add a few more items to my arsenal.
I've been collecting items over time. Please don't think it's been bought all at one time. I'm still unemployed (praying that this changes soon), however, my kit helps me earn extra cash but providing services. So I try to invest a small amount every now and then. Besides you can never have too much make up :^).

So first up is Milani's Lipsticks. I first became aware of this brand and their greatness from YouTube Guru Cora from VintageorTacky. Thank you Cora!! These lipsticks are highly pigmented and are great value items to add to any kit. Purchased at any Target or Drug store, these typically run in price from about $7.49 and on sale as low as $3.49 (awesome!!!). I purchased a total of 5 over time. One was purchased over 2 months ago and I decided not to add it to this haul/ review. If you're interested comment below and I'll add an update.
The 4 I bought about 5 weeks ago I purchased at a great deal. Searching for the best deal it happen to be at CVS. At $5.49, they were on sale for buy one get one half off (b1g1) and with an in store coupon for $2.00 off a beauty purchase along with another coupon of $5.00 off a $10.00 or more purchase; I felt that I racked up!!!  I spent less than $10 before taxes on 4 lipsticks that could indeed rival any high-end brand. With a wide range of colors, textures, and finishes, these can be used to create great looks. Including the well sought after Bold Lip statement. As seen here: Image
Next up is Lip Glazes from Stilla Cosmetics. Now I'm not very familiar with this brand. I happen across it in Sephora while looking to use up a $5.00 gift card from Wrapp. I have had a few of these mini gift cards before and they always tend to expire before I can get out there to use them, so I made sure this time that didn't happen! Free money, never give that up. So I looked around at their mini items to see if I could find an expensive kit building item. Upon looking for almost an hour at almost everything seemed to be out of the range what I was willing to pay. Which was sales tax. Just being honest.
So I decided to find something I could use and pay as little as possible. What caught my eyes was the Stilla Lip Glaze Trio. As you see there were 2 I could choose from. I decided to go with the one on the right. Lip Glaze Trio in Flower Power.

Nice Spring shades to use with lipsticks or by themselves. They can be used sheerly or intensely to desired effect. Though a bit tacky for my taste and required a heavy hand to use for just gloss alone. Image
Next up is Lit Cosmetics. I am totally surprised at how much I love these products. YouTube Guru Beatface Honey and Queen of Blending both have raved about the glitter and adhesive products created by this company. I purchased my lot from Beautylish.com. Though Lit Cosmetics does have a website (click here), Beautylish had a better deal. With the purchase of 3 glitters you received a free Lit Kit. The kit includes a mini precision brush, 4 ml (.14 oz) bottle of glitter adhesive, and a Sparker Duster (the pink thing).

They sent a nice hand written card placed in the box along with it. I chose Mariln Monroe S2 (size of glitter) Image. A nice fine grade of glitter that packs a heavy punch of sparkle. My next choice was Liberache Image. A beautiful metallic pure gold. Also a size S2. My final choice was Boogie Nights ,   Image a Beautylish exclusive. Though the picture doesn't do this particular glitter justice. There's a turquoisey, peacock-y blend. With a bit of purple and hint of silver. I used Boogie Nights and Marilin Monroe yesterday on a look I did on myself: Image  Image Image. A little practice is needed for placement and design. However, I'm very happy with the overall look.
I hope this helps any of you that are looking for a new product to try out. If you have any suggestions of items for me to try, let me know. I'm always looking for a bargain or a deal!!!
